Hiring a Dell XPS 400 for a day for a photo shoot?

Odd question, I know! But I am at wit ends and have asked every contact I have on earth to no result.

Does anyone know where I might find/hire a Dell XPS 400 for a day for a photo shoot in Canberra?

It doesn’t even need to be working.

Specifically, the look we are trying to replicate in the shot is:

    –Black LCD monitor.
    –Silver case.
    –Black mouse/keyboard.

Any help would be appreciated, and if anyone happens to have one and is happy to loan it for an hour or two (or I can even get the shot in your house) I’ll be happy to pay for the privilege.

Hell, if you know a photographer in Canberra with one I’ll even hire the chap!

This thread is by far the most interesting I’ve seen in RiotACT in months. Why Why oh WHY would this be necessary. I don’t really want to know as that would ruin the more interesting theories I have in my mind.

PS Samsung monitors look almost identical to the Dell aside from the lettering and I think HP keyboard/mice packs look very similar to the image you linked.

Does it have to be that model of Dell, or would any old Dell be good enough (from that era)?

Thought about a 3D render? Might be able to buy a 3DS model of it and then just set the camera up yourself, hit render, and done.

I’ve called a few local PC stores, no dice. Even tried calling a few Universities knowing that they use Dells for student machines. iStockphotograph has nothing either.

I’m after a specific composition, and dead set square shot. Just posted a job to Elance so hopefully something comes up there.

Have you wandered into any of the PC stores around to see if they’ve got a PC or even just an empty case + monitor on display that looks like what you’re after? I’m sure you could convince them to lend one.

There’s plenty of silver (or black and silver) cases around. Most new monitors are black, and keyboards too.

Just go to iStockphoto or similar and download a pic. In fact Dell may have official pics of it still form their Media Centre website.

Sounds like the next edition of Obsolete PC magazine is going to be a cracker!

Try allbids.com.au in Fyshwick. They are an auction house that deal in lots of second hand computer gear and I’m sure they’d be happy for you to photograph one if they have it. Tell them Patsy suggested you ring.
