How many of the Chief Ministers cronies will get exhibitions at the gallery?

By johnboy - 21 April 2005 6

Reader Chris sent the following in as a comment.

No, I haven’t got the hang of starting a new post either, or I would have, drawing attention to yesterday’s CT story on “Canberra’s Imelda” Marika Harvey, who is being given her own (gasp) shoe exhibition at CMAG (Canberra Museum and Gallery) to exhibit her collection of 175 pairs of shoes.

But wait – wasn’t Ms Harvey one of the Government PR ladies who conveniently succumbed to ammnesia regarding the 2003 bushfire warnings ? Yes – it was – I distinctly remember the red hair and the cute little butterfly hair slide. So THAT’S how loyal troopers are rewarded now.

So when will Aidan get his exhibtion at CMAG, and what will it be ? Aidan’s collection of 175 best graffiti artworks ?

And – just wondering – what shoe was Ms Harvey wearing on that memorable/tragic day ? The “outrageous, the simply exquisite or the red glitter or the Italian ‘pop wheels ? “?

Personally I’m waiting to see what items of Odile Arman’s the ACT Government puts on display. Also are these Stanhope favourites being paid for this?

What’s Your opinion?

LG, it is ‘elite’ – here’s the wikipedia definition –
However, leetspeak is not popular amongst all hackers, and most commonly used ironically to represent immaturity in a humourous manner nowadays. Many consider it a pointless affectation, and as it has become widely used it is less useful as a way of showing membership of an “elite” group. It is nonetheless a cultural phenomenon well-known amongst hackers and many other Internet users

Let’s not pretend this vanity project stuff only from one side, does anyone else remember the “tributue it Greek-Canberran women” that Helen Cross organised?

You might be onto something there. That certainly is something worth misleading a coronial inquiry for. Surely she’ll break the big time now. An exhibition in Canberra’s local gallery! What a swell reward!

I know I’d risk a $5000 fine and five years in jail to get my shoes on show at CMAG.

An exhibition of modern shoes? Um, excuse my ignorance and qualifications in cultural heritage management, including museology, but can one really class a nobody’s modern shoe collection as an exhibition?

Tell me I’m still half asleep and still half pissed and read this wrongly….
