I’ve had the following in from Canberra Rep and it looks interesting:
Charlotte Jones’ Humble Boy, directed by Corille Fraser, opens on 6 May and continues until 21 May at Theatre 3, 3 Repertory Lane Acton. Jones crafts a multi-layered and poetic story,
combining images and ideas from literary history, science and nature–which will take your breath away.
Felix Humble, the boy-man of the title, is a gifted astrophysicist who is trying to come to terms with the death of his father. His beloved science provides him with more questions than answers,
and his personal relations are hopelessly tangled. While struggling to overcome his grief, and caught in the gravitational orbit of his alarmingly powerful mother,
Felix goes through a whole summer of intense, heartbreaking, and often very amusing exploration…endlessly searching for answers to the questions of his universe.
The talented Cast for this Rep production are James Scott (Felix Humble), Naone Carrel (Flora Humble), David Bennett (George Pye), Jodi McAlister (Rosie Pye), Helen Vaughan Roberts (Mercy Lott), and Jasan Savage (Jim the Gardener).
A play that positively buzzes with ideas—mothers and sons, fathers and gardens, secret layers and brave truths, beekeeping and black holes!
