Why do Canberra builders shut footpaths and streets to build anything more than one storey?
When it’s only a single level they seem to constrain themselves to an arrangement of debris over the footpath, but anything over that and it’s the full fencing job.
Do they just like to spread out?
Do they revel in feelings of power watching hapless cyclists and motorists get detoured from the detour they were detoured onto from another detour?
Perhaps it’s the forlorn faces of pedestrians mixing it with the heavy trucks that floats their boat?

Make a complaint or nothing will happen. I wrote a letter to the building company when workmen on my neighbour’s endless house build site kept leaving rubbish in the street. I got a very contrite call from the site manager and it stopped happening.
Same reason they park with impunity and immunity in places where the rest of us would get a ticket in an instant.

Because it is only wrong if you get caught.
Report them. I have recently. City Rangers made the builder clear debris off the path & the police fixed up the dangerous parking of his subbies.
They will tell you to F#%K OFF but aren’t as brave around the authorities.
Photos help.
