Ice Dragons Open Day – 14 October – we’re no ordinary dragon boat club

ivyclimbsalot 3 October 2012

The Canberra Ice Dragons Dragon Boat and Outrigger Canoe Club are recruiting new members for the 2012-13 season. Come along to our open day on Sunday 14 October, from 10.00am to 12.00pm at the jetty near the Yacht Club, Lake Burley Griffin, and we’ll show you what everyone is talking about!

Never tried dragon boat racing or outrigging before? Never even heard of it? That’s okay, that is what the open day is all about. Come along and give it a try, your first three sessions are FREE!

We have great coaches and a dedicated rookie program that’s ideal for showing you the ropes and getting you ready to compete alongside our experienced paddlers. We train hard, we have fun and with Ice Dragons, it’s all about the team.

Dragon boat racing and outrigging are competitive international sports. The Ice Dragons has grown to become the largest dragon boat and outrigging club in Canberra, boasting over 150 members, with ages ranging from early twenties to mid-sixties.

We are currently ACT Dragon Boat Champions and hold 5 Australian Dragon Boat Championship titles. In July 2012, the Ice Dragons competed at the Dragon Boat World Club Crew Championship in Hong Kong, where our Premier Men received a silver medal. The Ice Dragons were awarded the ACT Sports Team of the Month for July 2012.

We’re looking for people to join our team who can help us perform at the highest levels in competition in both Australia and overseas.

Are you up for the challenge? If so we will see you at the jetty near the Yacht Club on Sunday 14 October 2012!
