On Saturday 08-APR-06 we did the Civic Public Art Walking Tour and lived to tell the tale.

And so, I present to you item # 24, Civic Memory Quilt by Floor Design. It’s at the intersection of City Walk and Petrie Plaza.

Civic Memory Quilt - by Floor Design

The guide says:

Referring to Canberra’s Aboriginal and
European cultural and natural history,
the quilt features the Molonglo River,
the bogong moth, kangaroo
grass and oral histories.
It includes reminiscences from the
Doug Anthony All Stars who studied in
Canberra and busked on the site in the
late 1980s.

And who better to have a memorial in Canberra than Tim Ferguson, Paul Macdermott and Richard Fidler?

I like this piece.

And it’s got to be better to press moth stencils into wet concrete than dog paw prints and “Kerces 4 Markus 4 eva” type scrawls.

I always thought Tim Ferguson was gorgeous. I wonder where he is now?
