Images of Canberra – The Fog Pond at the National Gallery of Australia

By johnboy - 24 September 2005 5

Here’s one I took a few weeks ago of the “fog pond” in the sculpture garden of the National Gallery. That’s a Moore in the background and I forget who did the bronze boat/raft but I’m sure someone can enlighten us.

Terubo,

yep, used to work in EBB so a stroll around the gardens at lunchtime was often a good option. Especially when the fog machine was on.

It is a stunning scupture.

Just a reminder, the Sculpture Prize exhibition closes early October.
Thumps, the fog appears daily between 12-2pm.

Its actually called “On the beach” by Stackhouse and would have to be my most favourite scultpure.

its quite eerie and disturbing in some way.

I think they turn the fog on at around midday for an hour or so. Its really cool and adds to the total ambience of the Stackhouse sculpture.

Well if there was any fog around i’d agree, anyway the fog sculpture extends beyond the pond.

but thanks for the reminder with the Stackhouse.

Try Robert Stackhouse.
And the purists call it a ‘fog sculpture’.
-At least, so I’ve been told….
