After the huge success of the 2005 Canberra Impro Theatre Challenge, the laugh-a-minute Impro Theatre ACT has embedded intself at The Street Theatre, with their next big show coming up on Sunday 2 October in the new timeslot of 7:30pm. This is the Sunday of the long weekend, so there are no worries about working the next day, but the slightly earlier start time signals the beginning of a regular monthly Sunday evening niche for the group.
With the audience responding more like an excited football crowd than the traditionally reserved theatre set, it’s not hard to understand why this type of event is known as theatre sports in many parts of the country. The same audience response is expected for the October show, with the players working on the set of Warehouse Circus’ BAM! Patrons can get involved with choosing titles for the scenes, cheering and booing the judges, or simply developing a permanent grin. Many who were at the last show were so enthused, they joined up for the next training course — an option which will again be available this time around — and will be making an appearance themselves in October.
Sunday 02-Oct-05 at 7:30pm.
Tickets: (cash only) at the door: $12–$15.
