It's come to this for Todd Carney

The Herald Sun’s man in Kigali brings word of Todd Carney’s latest outing on a football field.

He’s playing touch on a rock strewn dustbowl in Rwanda against the Rwandan national rugby team.

But the 22-year-old former Raiders star was eager to accept the invitation, even if the rocky field with a metre-deep hole inside the western touchline offered the perfect recipe for a catastrophic leg injury.

“I didn’t really worry about that because I was going back to what I know,” Carney said later. “It just felt good to get out there and have a run. Towards the end, when the scores got close, my competitive edge even started to come out. I could have done it all day – that’s how much I’ve missed footy.”

The Rwandans won.

I’m just going to keep watching the news for Rwandan “natural” disasters ….

; )

but will Todd be good for Rwanda? They’ve been through so much already.

HA!

I’m glad I set down my drink before reading that; might have been beer-through-the-nose-time otherwise.

If any rugby league player had starved themselves of all other opportunities, I am sure that a Rwandan stop in ones career would be explosive to say the least.

One or the other will never be the same, that’s for sure!

*chuckle*

I think Rwanda will be good for Todd.

The threat of playing footie in Rwanda ought to be threat enough even for the densest of NRL players to understand!

“Damn, I was thinking about peeing on someone, but I not want to be sent to Rwanda!”

Good to see the twerp is now playing first grade in Rwanda.
