John David Large appeals his trip to the pokey

By johnboy - 7 August 2010 8

The Albury Border Mail is intrigued by Canberra’s John David Large, 31, of Chisholm who has been sentenced down there to a four year licence disqualification and four months in prison.

The cause was John Large, already the recipient of 12 traffic infringement notices in the ACT between 2006 and last year, blasting past Holbrook at 235km/h.

The NSW magistracy being less merciful than our own the delivery driver is now facing some serious penalties.

He is appealing the sentence.

What’s Your opinion?

He has the nerve to appeal the sentence!! Hope it fails.

Or better yet. The appeals judge decides to up his sentence by a few more months.

If I had a gun that I randomly fired in a public place I should expect a hefty jail sentence. What’s the difference between negligently firing a gun and driving a car at 235?

Mr Large certainly felt the “Lerve” on this occasion. Agreed, bd94, we need more Lerve in the ACT.

Traffic Infringement Notices are not admissable in ACT Courts. If had been caught speeding in the ACT and charged (instead of a further TIN), he would have shown as a first offender.

Mr Lerve said Large had drink-driving matters in the ACT in 1999 and 2000, received a 12-month suspended sentence for high-range drink-driving and dangerous driving in 2001 and appeared in court in 2007 for doing a burnout.

He had 12 traffic infringement notices in the ACT between 2006 and last year.

“His record demonstrates irresponsibility as far as the traffic laws are concerned,” Mr Lerve said.

Aided and abetted by Canberra’s laughable justice system.

Gives a new meaning to the phrase living Large.

Sounds like someone is getting what they deserve. Maybe this will make him think a bit more in the future.

We gotta get ourselves one of those sensible judges. Sounds like this guy is getting everything he deserves, it’s a pity he had to go to NSW to get it.
