The ABC has the sad tale of Mark Thomas Garvin’s failed effort to steal ciggies from the Coles servo adjoining the Hungry Jacks he was managing.

An alibi of being out with mates and a story about trying to sell his dad’s duty free came to naught:

He is alleged to have stolen the cigarettes from the Coles service station which was in the same building as the Hungry Jacks outlet where he worked.

Garvin had argued he had an alibi and was with two friends at the time of the theft.

But the crown argued he had stayed in the shop after closing and went into the premises next door where he stole the cigarettes.

He was arrested after he tried to sell them to other staff members.

A trouble with fast food staff is they don’t like their managers half as much as the managers like to think.
