A table for ten is being auctioned off on Allbids for the Nepal Fundraising Gala Dinner, which will be held at Albert Hall in Yarralumla on September 18.
The auction for the table (which was kindly bought and then donated back to the Reach for Nepal foundation by local content writing agency Mint Content) ends on Wednesday, September 12 at 8 pm.
The event has been sold out for weeks, with 300 people attending to help raise money for the Reach for Nepal Foundation. The team behind the Foundation has worked tirelessly for the past three years, helping communities in Nepal rebuild after the devastating April 2015 earthquake that killed nearly 9000 people.
Lachhu Thapa, Founder and Director of Reach for Nepal, says their focus this year is infrastructure, sanitation to prevent water-borne diseases, and working with women and children to increase participation in school and work.
“It’s been three years since the earthquake, so we are looking to extend our reach now. The fundraising gala dinner is one of our major events, and helps us raise the money we need to make a real difference to communities in Nepal.”
The foundation has received numerous items as donations, which will be auctioned off on the night to provide the funds needed to support its work.
A yoga, trekking and community rebuild trip to Nepal (valued at $2,750), corporate box tickets to an upcoming Cher concert, and a limited edition framed print will be auctioned off live. Anyone interested can bid on them now, and the winning online bidder will be able to partake in bidding over the phone on the night.
Other auction items include Hungry Buddha gift vouchers, health spa vouchers, backpacks, photography vouchers, jewellery, clothing, and more. The auction ends at 9:15 pm on the evening of the gala dinner.
Rob Evans, CEO of Allbids, will be a live auctioneer at the event.
“We are always happy to offer the Allbids platform to help local and national charities and community groups. With Reach for Nepal, we are proud to be supporting a Canberra charity that is making a tremendous difference internationally. The work Lou and Lachhu do all year round for the foundation, in addition to organising and leading treks while running successful businesses here in Canberra, is impressive and inspiring.”
The Nepal Fundraising Gala Dinner starts at 6 pm on September 18. Tickets include a two-course meal.
