Lots of Power Outages

Funny things happen over in the dark side.

Lots of rumbling thunder and some sheet lightning down on the bright side. Had a short downpour about 1am and that was about it. The power stayed on too.

Freaky!

We had an almighty crash of thunder and lightning at about 7-7.30 last night here in Evatt that must’ve hit something running to my house because my power1 and power2 safety switches kicked in, lights/stove etc remained on however.

Was certainly the biggest bang I’ve ever had in my life in a house and I unplugged net (had unfortunately forgotten before it happened) and phones and such all night, but the power was fine to go back on and was fine all evening. Thank God for safety switches!

the radar was fun to watch, and the lines of lightning were great too. there was still too much dust in the air to get any decent photos, and when it did settle down enough, the storm was above me. I like lightning shots, but that was too close for comfort.

Hail was a bit interesting too.

had to buy a new surge protector for the pc, it was toasted. rather pay 69 for a surge protector than the cost of a modem, a pc and a printer.

after the last lightning front passed at about 3-4am, the dust returned, it was thicker than before, but at least the wind picked up again and blew it away.

yay to suburbs with underground power lines

North West Belconnen got hammered last night! I swear the lightning that cracked around 11pm hit my street! Way way too close for comfort.
