I took my initially skeptical family to the Youth Theatre’s Retrieval at the National Library Saturday night, mainly on the promise of a backroom tour through the library.
We got that and a wierd and wonderful Dr Who-ish grand production as we weaved through darkened spaces into new ‘situations’ full of haunting characters, installations and atmospheric audio visual effects.
It all hangs together and has a thoughtful message to boot (or perhaps to not just boot-up).
Definitely well worth it and it finishes this weekend,Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. Its suitable for adults and kids and a little scary at times.
Disclaimer – I don’t have any connection with the production. My only disappointment was there was no opportunity to congratulate the cast and production crew hence this message. Cheers to the National Library and staff too for giving the Youth Theatre the run of the place.
If you have seen it what did you think?
