Major reshuffle and ACT Government

2CN were reporting a major reshuffle in the ACT Government this morning.

Apparently there’s going to be a new treasurer, new Attorney General and new planning minister.

So that’s Ted Quinlan, Jon Stanhope and Simon Corbell moving or losing their positions.

No more details at this stage, but updates through the day if we find out more (and I’m sure some of you could fill us in).

UPDATE Well the only mention of this all day yesterday was in this ABC story put up late yesterday afternoon. It talks about Mr Stanhope once again calling for more assembly members particularly because Katy Gallagher and Ted Quinlan are about to go on extended leave (to have a baby and for surgery, respectively), putting extra workloads on the other members of the ministry.

The last sentence says, “Meantime, suggestions of an imminent Cabinet reshuffle have been dismissed, but the Chief Minister cannot rule out a reorganisation of portfolios next year”.

There’s been about this for a few months. Word is Ted’s taking up planning and Simon’s taking up the treasury. Not sure about the AG. Apparently it’s not (or wasn’t) happening until after the budget.

is uncle Ted jumping ship? hence the need for a re-shuffle?
bar his magnificence, ted is the only alp member with some modicum of big time cred… it would be a big loss

What if Stanhope decides to be the entire cabinet…is that a good time to leave Canberra?

Wasn’t Stanhope saying just the other week that at least his party had stability and, unlike the Liberal’s, knew who did what?
