After a long silence since November the Chief Minister’s media release site has lurched into frenzied activity.

Amongst the announcements is the news that you can now see a doctor at Majura Park:

ACT Chief Minister and Minister for Health, Katy Gallagher, today officially opened the new Airport General Practice, located at the Majura Park Medical Centre.

“The new Practice will provide health care to the 10,000 people who work at the airport and also to people living in Pialligo, and neighbouring suburbs. It will also provide care to the shoppers who visit Majura Park each week,” the Chief Minister said.

“In addition to Airport General Practice, the Medical Centre will have a pathology centre where patients can get their blood test referrals done, and a physiotherapy clinic. There is also a nearby pharmacy where scripts can be filled. It is expected that a dentist will also be part of the Medical Centre.

“This reflects a developing trend in health, where services are grouped together for patients so they can easily access them,” the Chief Minister said.

The practice is large, with seven consultation rooms and when it reaches full capacity will provide up to 40,000 consultations per year. The treatment area is well equipped, and in addition to providing facilities for the usual minor procedures, two of the GPs will use their special expertise in skin cancer medicine and surgery.
