Expressions of interest for Malcolm Turnbull’s Kingston penthouse close on October 11. All photos supplied.

A waterside penthouse apartment owned by former Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and his wife Lucy is on the market in Kingston and boasts sensational views over Lake Burley Griffin, East Basin and the City.

The two-level luxury penthouse in Eastlake Parade, Kingston, has a price guide of around $2.5 million and features three generous bedrooms, marble bathrooms and an enormous lakeside entertaining terrace with a covered outdoor kitchen.

The apartment, bought off the plan in 2006, has been “very lightly lived in” with the Turnbulls only making it their home for about the first four months of Malcolm’s prime ministership in late 2015 – before they moved into the renovated Lodge.

The Turnbulls have been living in their Central Park apartment in New York since shortly after Malcolm was ousted as Prime Minister in August and the sale of the Kingston apartment is seen as a further sign that they are cutting ties with Canberra.

Berkely Residential is promoting the apartment as a “rare offering” with “one of Canberra’s finest waterfront locations”.

It features open plan living areas with polished hardwood timber floors, subtle lighting, a high-quality luxe kitchen and excellent storage.

The master suite is on the lower level and has a ‘superb’ water aspect and a large bathroom. The lower level also includes a powder room and separate laundry.

Upstairs there are two spacious bedrooms with a main bathroom and a study area.

Other highlights of the property include 400 square metres of internal/external living areas, a large double lockup garage, Bosch Appliances in the kitchen, underfloor heating in the bathrooms, and double-glazed windows throughout.

The home is open for inspection at 1 pm today (October 6), with expressions of interest open until October 11.
