Male health providers in Canberra

An update, spurred on by the thread re proctologists.

A very helpful pathology nurse was able to drop the names of a couple of GPs who seemed to be looking at the sort of tests required by the male variety. Two practices in Woden.

It is a pity that it is only with some inside knowledge that this information becomes available.

An appointment has been made.

Well, I’m certainly sympathetic. I’ve just convinced my doctor-phobic husband to get his fifty-year service, and having learned that the random-doctor-from-phone-book says his bladder problems are just “getting older,” I’m not encouraged. I’m sorry, I don’t accept that two minutes’ notice is normal.

I was certainly bemused by the path these comments took.

I cannot be Robinson Crusoe in this quest,. Surely some gent has gone before, and is able to report on positive outcomes. My search has failed to discover any ‘clinic’ which is relevant. The one listed in Manuka has apparently closed. So I guess a sympathetic GP, or some well hidden ACT Health programme would be a start.

A GP who is great for someone is not necessarily going to be great for someone else. The only place I wouldn’t recommend going is the Superclinic, as you don’t really get your ‘own’ GP there.

seriously, have you discussed this with your gp and insisted on some thorough investigations? or have you just not had this gp go into much detail and you haven’t pursued it?

if you have already done the former, then yes, look to change gps. good luck.

I think what you need is just a good GP – a relative tried about 4 before he found one that would actually look into his issues, and not just write it off as ;’getting older’.

Try Andrology Australia, they may be able to help depending on the nature of your condition. Otherwise there is always the old fashion way of dealing with male menopause – buy a red HSV Commodore

There’s a syntax problem in there as well. See if you can work it out.

The first your is correct. In order to avoid confusion with this word I always substitute “you are” in my mind whenever I see or use either word. If it correlates correctly the proper spelling is you’re.
