The title of this article and the attached picture were very misleading. My apologies.

Give yourself another slap if you’re too stupid to read and still want to have an opinion.

That and calling American English another language is a bit of a stretch. I’m willing to bet when Australians read “ass” none of them think of a donkey.

you lose! 🙂

FINALLY, someone admitted it.

As far as I’m aware this sign was first featured on the “That’s Tops” segment with Paul Harragon on The Footy Show (NRL) – which later became “That’s Gold” – in the late 1990s. Someone has said that it goes back further than that – the Phunny Fotos segment on Hey Hey It’s Saturday in the mid 1990s.

‘Ass’ is an offensive word in US English, not Australian English. How can you fine McD’s for essentially having a sign that when read in a different language, it’s offensive?

Incredible.

ummmm. The fine has nothing to do with the sign. It’s for health regulations infringements etc.

Not even sure the sign is still there in that format, I’m pretty sure the original one that looked a lot like MYass was changed or removed.

/slaps self

And here come the dimwitted Maccas bashers.

Maccas doesn’t claim to be healthy, and they charge the right price for what they serve.

I note no one on here is calling out the Yass Subway, which has two infringements.
And for a company that does actually market itself as healthy food, it’s not really – when you actually configure the sandwiches the way most people do and see the nutrition count. In fact their top selling sub in the UK, the Italian BMT, has more fat than a Big Mac.

Actually i like subway, but I’m also amused with the assumption its healthier. I actually saw an overweight person say to someone at subway once, my doctor is making me eat healthy so i have to eat this rubbish and ordered a meatball sub with cheese and no salad!

That said check out the calorie count in the veggie pattie sub next time. IMO probably the worst tasting and highest calorie count!

I drove past this sign hundreds of times in the 4 years I was at uni in wagga and failed to see the irony of this sign until I saw it on the internet many moons later.

>Nature & circumstances of alleged offence: Fail to maintain the food premises to the required standard of cleanliness

Perhaps that needs to go in the OP?

$880 for free worldwide advertising. Ronald might be a clown, but obviously he is not stupid.

We all know they serve s*** food, but this is ridiculous.

Offence code 11339 – Fail to comply with Food Standards Code – Corporation

I thought they were being fined for something to do with the bill board. But it is just a fine because someone has realised that what Maccas sell does not meet the standard to be considered “food”.

Where is this famous sign?

Have to say, so what? The servo and Subway in Yass both have current notices on the register, as has the KFC.

I’d say the bigger issue is that unlike this one, the other two Maccas stores currently on the register are company owned stores, not franchises.
