Canberra’s artists have until Monday 3 September to enter a new art competition sponsored by King O’Malley’s with a first prize of $5,000. The Aussie Icons in the Pub art competition will run in conjunction with Canberra’s 2007 Floriade celebration.

As well as the $5,000 first prize, there will be a “people’s choice” award of a King O’Malley’s function to the value of $500, to be awarded during a Floriade exhibition of finalists’ work at King O’Malley’s. There is no fee to enter the competition, which is open to any artist or group in Australia.

King O’Malley’s is part of Floriade’s Aussie Icon Trail, and this will be a great opportunity for artists to have their work judged and displayed for public viewing throughout Floriade. Entrants may submit one work only, which must be a drawing, painting or single edition original print, such as an etching, lithography linocut or screen print.

Entries close on 3 September. After a shortlisting process, selected entrants will be invited to submit their work for final judging by 15 September, with the winner to be announced at an Awards Night at King O’Malley’s on 17 September.

Full terms and conditions and entry forms can be downloaded from King O’Malley’s website at www.kingomalleys.com.au.
