Many of us are searching for balance in our lives. It’s a constant battle, maintaining equilibrium between work and play. It can be elusive and often unattainable.

What we do know is: where we live often determines how we live. It’s easy to make good lifestyle choices when we have enough time and excellent amenities. When we’re busy, easy access to services is vital and when we want to unwind, convenience is key.

Nestled behind Gungahlin Drive (and just a stone’s throw from Downer), North Lyneham’s enviable location has all the perks of living close to the city, without sacrificing the benefits of living in the leafy, Bush Capital.

Close to the University of Canberra, ANU, Brindabella Christian College and Radford College, North Lyneham is at the epicentre of educational institutes.

Dickson is just across Northbourne Avenue where you’ll find some of the best places to eat in Canberra. But, if you’re looking for something edgier, jump on the light rail (parking/designated driver sorted!) and head down to Braddon and Canberra City.

Exhibition Park is nearby, hosting everything from handmade markets and motorcycle shows to warehouse and clearance sales. Every Saturday, the epic Capital Region Farmer’s Market makes it easy to shop locally for fresh food.

Living in North Lyneham, you’ll have everything Canberra has to offer, right at your fingertips. Belconnen Town Centre, Gungahlin Town Centre, Canberra City, Mitchell and even (gasp!) south of Lake Burley Griffin, are all easily accessible via Canberra’s major arterial roads.

Just across Ellenborough Street, the Next Gen Health and Aquatics Centre gives you easy access to world-class sporting and leisure facilities. The North Lyneham and nearby Lyneham shops boast a wonderful array of stores and eateries, including Choku Bai Jo Farmers Outlet and Tilley’s Divine Café.

When you’re ready to wind down and get among nature, Bruce Ridge Nature Reserve is on your doorstep. Here, you can take your dog for a hike (on lead), go for a trail run, mountain bike, or dabble in a spot of orienteering. The local residents are nurturing an impressive vegetable garden on the reserve and it’s also a great vantage point for watching the annual Skyfire event on Lake Burley Griffin.

What the locals have to say:

“I love North Lyneham. I was welcomed by the locals as soon as I moved here and have become friends with many of my neighbours. I’ve enjoyed the company of regular walkers on the reserve in the morning and spent many wonderful hours talking with the mums, dads, grandparents and nannies at the local playground while the children played. It’s a sharing neighbourhood if you want to be part of a community – not intrusive, just caring and supportive.”

Sonia, local North Lyneham resident.

The superb location of North Lyneham provides the foundation for a balanced lifestyle; intrinsically connected to nature, with all the benefits of living in a vibrant, cosmopolitan city, North Lyneham truly offers a lifestyle like no other.

There are some areas of Canberra that are made to look like suburbs, with dedicated road signage, but are actually part of other suburbs, such as North Lyneham, Fern Hill Park and Swinger Hill, for example, that are part of Lyneham, Bruce and Phillip respectively. They could be considered and gazetted suburbs in their own right as they are well known areas on their own.
