The NRMA Safer Driving School – Canberra and Queanbeyan commenced operating in 2007 by local franchisee Tony Commisso. Since commencing operations the school has delivered driving lessons to over 3000 students in the Canberra and Queanbeyan Region. Tony Commisso said that “our school provides driving lessons to both learner drivers and refresher lessons to senior drivers in Canberra, Queanbeyan and the surrounding towns. With many Queanbeyan learners attending school in Canberra we have been able to provide convenience with lessons both starting in Queanbeyan or from School.”
A significant change for NSW learner drivers occurred on 19/12/2009 with the introduction of new rules that allow a learner driver who completes a 1 hour structured driving lesson with a fully licensed driving instructor to have 3 hours driving experience added to their NSW Learner driver log-book. A maximum of 10 hours of lessons will be accepted and recorded as 30 hours in the Learner driver log book. In addition, learner drivers who are aged 25 and over will no longer be required to present a Learner driver log book prior to attempting the driving test. The NRMA Safer Driving School instructors in Queanbeyan are able to deliver the structured driving lesson for customers.
Since August 2010 Tony Commisso has been operating the NRMA Safer Driving School booking office locally to better service the needs of local residents. Tony Commisso said “that on the first anniversary of the commencement of our Canberra based booking office I have launched a fully functional online lesson booking and management system for our customers. This is a first in many respects as it allows learners and their parents to make, manage and pay for driving lesson bookings online at their convenience 24/7. Our customers have been asking for an online solution and now we are able to offer it.”
