urinal

Canberra CBD have announced an end to the public urinal trial in Civic while they consider the data and the thoughts of city traders and property owners:

The urinal trial in late-night hot spots in the Canberra CBD has finished with successful results following the final weekend of the trial.

Data collected showed that an estimated 2162 men had used the urinals over the three week trial that was conducted on Thursday-Sunday nights from March 14-April 1.

Results indicated that across the 12 days of the trial the most popular night of use was the first evening heralding the Easter long weekend being Thursday 28 March, where 330 men used the
portable urinals.

Canberra CBD Limited’s Chief Executive Officer, Jane Easthope, said they were happy with the positive results.

It will be interesting to see what the upcoming consultations arrive at.

Thank goodness.
From a citizen perspective I’d much rather glance someone letting it loose in a back alley than have to wait for a bus/cab with 4 blokes next to me with their dongs out.
From a shop keeper perspective I’d also much rather a little bit of mess outside my store (which can quite easily be hosed off) than have potential customers scared off by whats basically an open air toilet sitting on in my front window.

There was one out of the back of the pub I work at and I have to say it didn’t stop everyone pissing on the bins but when the time came to put the rubbish in them there was a noticeable reduction in “streams” we have to hop through. So well done Government I guess.

One thing that has disturbed me though, how have they arrived at the number of people who used them? Is it some kind of volumetric measure at the end of the night?

from The Physics Factbook

“The majority of sources that I found reported that the adultbladder could contain about 600 to 800 cm3 (ml). However, they also noted that the Micturition point is between150 and 300 cm3 (ml).”

So on Thursday night/Friday morning 330 men used the pissers.Surely there must’ve been a few young females trying their luck as a dare?

Pretty piss-poor.

How did they get this figure? Are there counters on the door? Or did they measure the amount of p*** and divide it. Could be a bit inaccurate because big men have larger bladders and … well, I think you get the picture 😉

yes, we were all enjoying the weekly updates of urine amounts…

What? they’re taking the piss?
