Canberra doom masters Pod People have been hard at it over recent months preparing and releasing their second full length album, “Mons Animae Mortuorum”(Mor-2-or-um for those struggling with the Latin) – Translated “Mountain, Where the souls of the dead reside” – on fledgling Melbourne label Goatsounds in Australia.
Distroed through MGM, the album has been well recieved critially thus far and their label are releasing the album in glorious double album vinyl format. Zenith Records recently opened in Melbourne and has made vinyl production for Australian artists not only more affordable, but bring the manufacturing onshore, making vinyl representations for all Australian bands a much more viable option.
All the better for Pod People’s new album, which features stunning artwork based on the Purgatorio chapter of Dante Alligheri’s Divine Comedy, by Internationally renound Australian artist Glenn Smith, recently featured in several exhibitions of other contempoary artists in the US.
The band are playing Megafauna Festival at the ANU October 11th, and the album should be avilable in stores very soon. More shows to be announced, keep in touch with the Pod People website for more details:
