Police car rammed before intersection pileup

A man driving a suspected stolen vehicle allegedly rammed a police car before running a red light and colliding with three other vehicles in Belconnen late on Tuesday afternoon (14 May).

Police are seeking witnesses to the collision at the intersection of Ginninderra Drive and Aikman Drive about 4:15 pm.

They said an ACT Policing Traffic Operations car was pursuing the suspected stolen vehicle when it was rammed.

No one was injured in the main collision but the man driving the suspected stolen vehicle returned a positive reading in a roadside drug test and was arrested.

ACT Policing’s Collision Investigation Reconstruction Team is investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Police are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have CCTV or dash-cam footage to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website.
