Police have urged witnesses to a road rage incident in which a man was allegedly assaulted to come forward.

An ACT Policing spokesperson said a white Toyota Hilux ute and white Volkswagen Amarok ute “interacted with each other” in the Weston Creek area about 2 pm on Monday (2 December).

“Soon after, both vehicles travelled down Kirkpatrick Street (near the RSPCA facility) and both pulled off the road onto a dirt path,” the spokesperson said.

“At this point, the driver of the Volkswagen allegedly got out of his vehicle, retrieved a hammer from the tray ute and assaulted the driver of the Toyota.”

The vehicle has a high visibility strip under its windows and ‘PD’ on the front doors, according to the spokesperson.

ACT Policing is asking anyone with dash-cam footage of the incident, or witnesses to the initial interactions between the two utes or alleged assault on Kirkpatrick Street, to contact Crime Stoppers.
