An ACT Australian Federal Police officer will face court this morning on child sex charges.

The 35-year-old Palmerston man will appear in the ACT Magistrates Court today (Friday, 12 July 2019) where he will be charged with multiple sex offences against a young person.

Following an investigation by ACT Policing’s Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Team, the AFP officer will be charged with offences against a young person including grooming, acts of indecency and maintaining a sexual relationship with a young person.

The officer was suspended from duty in June.

ACT Policing said all members were expected to behave at all times in a manner that upheld the organisation’s core values, reputation and integrity – consistent with community expectations.

“As this matter is before the court it would not be appropriate to make any further comment,” it said.
