News.com has an article discussing a masked prowler who has apparently been targetting women residing at Duntroon and ADFA residences.

The report states that there’s been one sexual assault to date and numerous other sightings.

So, I guess just a heads up to all living at the residences to please be super careful.

Never even hinted at taking up arms Mr RAAFie boy. Nothing of the sort.

As is normal with fixated blinkered military types, an attempt to offer a little lateral thinking has gone FA-18 on afterburner, straight over your head.

Consider the possibility of a covert operation by ADFA and RMC personnel. Hmmmm. Too busy studying the theory of direct action by committee are they?

Not saying any more as I am misguided, for thou hast told me so.

Covert operation! MUWAAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Must show this to my mates! =-)

This thread is a good example of the differences between military and civilian thinking.

There’s been a prowler, sexual assault and numerous other sightings

“OMFG … TERRORIST TERRORIST TERRORIST … TRAGEDY WAITING TO HAPPEN … INCREASED POWERS”

Really, can we not have a bit of perspective here instead of the usual fearmongering?

As for soldiers taking up arms to deal with the threat locally, no chance, not allowed. Government won’t allow soldiers to be armed at places like Holsworthy, what chance do you think they have at ADFA? Plus they are all inexperienced officer cadets anyway and I wouldn’t trust them with a spud gun let alone a semi-auto rifle!

Dont forget about armed guard duty at the gates at Holsworthy, doh, i forgot, it has been civilianised now! Nothing scarier than a immigrant Wilsons guard with a notebook, torch and broken english!

Is that you, USAF Brigadier General Jack D. Ripper?

Just a tragedy waiting to happen eh? Like every suburb in Canbra is a tragedy waiting to happen as they don’t have perimeter fencing or access control. One of the great things about Straya is our relative lack of pointless so-called security measures.

Surely there’s a golden opportunity here to utilise the resources of ADFA and RMC to prove that you shouldn’t mess with the soldiers. Any half-baked platoon or section (or whatever flavour the soldiers come in) should be given an exercise to catch and deal with this masked prowler.

If the trainee officers at these august institutions cannot be mobilised to counter such a minor threat then it does not bode well for threats to national security.

You are misguided sniffer, the difference with ADFA/RMC is that you have key idividuals, such as the Service Chiefs and key military personnel and their families all conveniently lumped together in one spot, so any incident that directly threatens their safety will have far reaching implications throughout the Defence Force and the Government, for example, old mate rapist finds out that a certain persons husband is away (it’s not hard, we put our own peoples movements in the Newspapers, Facebook, Myspace etc) and breaks into her house and rapes/murders her, how do you think that’s going to go down with Joe Public and Sam Soldier when that happens?

Sadly, no-one gives a toss when something similar happens in the suburbs because it’s not as newsworthy as an attack on soldiers wives, so get over it.

Pointless security measures? Well, you stay in the 50’s mate because times have changed and so too has the methodology of those that would seek to do us harm. We need barbed wire because the government has hamstrung our security forces so that direct action that would fix the problems are not possible.

If we have to live behind barbed wire then the terrorists have won.

Might not be a bad idea if we could put barbed wire up around ADFA/RMC to keep all the military types *in*.

Knowing these places, the prowler is probably a chick.

Do we have a description at all?

Do taxi-loads of ADFA dickheads still descend on Manuka on a Friday/Saturday night to start fights?
It’s probably one of those pathetic little short-arses.

How does the hooded prowler/rapist know when the husbands are away?

If we have to live behind barbed wire then the terrorists have won.

This has always been something that I felt was destined to happen when you have absolutely no security at RMC/ADFA other than the occasional patrols by the MPs. There is no perimeter fence, no access control, it’s just a tragedy waiting to happen.

If a sexual predator can stalk the place without getting caught what say, a terrorist?
