How dare the government meet an election promise and explore the possibility of a public wifi network, which they will provide some initial funds for? OutRAGEous!

I see nothing saying it has to be unmetered. Maccas’ network seems to cope.

I don’t know about Droptus or Vodafail, but the Telstra 3G and 4G in Civic almost asphixiates every lunch time. And it is permanently on life support in other locations like Watson and Downer.

Pretty sure socialist know how capitalism works and they probably have a working understanding of market failure. None of which makes this any less of a stupid idea. I’d be interested to know in what form the advertising is supposed to be. Are we talking billboards or sticking ads into the “browsing experience”?
