Do you have good communication skills, a friendly and positive attitude and are able to stand for long periods of time? Would you like to be at the centre of one of the capital’s most exciting, diverse and vibrant events?
Then the National Multicultural Festival would like to hear from you.
Festival organisers are calling for more than 100 volunteers of all ages, cultural backgrounds and skill sets to join the team and support the iconic event that will transform Civic from 16 to 18 February 2018 with food stalls, cultural displays, music, dance and a party atmosphere.
You will receive full training before assisting across a range of needs including stage management, talent minding, assisting performers, gathering feedback, setting up, photography, information provision and even being a master of ceremonies.
Volunteers can staff the Information Desk, hand out maps and programs, provide directions for festival goers, conduct surveys, keep the water replenished, be a runner between Festival HQ and the Footprint, or liaise with area wardens.
All shifts will be four hours long, with volunteers asked to commit to a minimum of one shift and a maximum of four shifts. Shifts will be available on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the Festival.
For their efforts, every registered volunteer will receive a free movie ticket. Twenty lucky volunteers can also win participation in a range of exciting Festival events, including attending the cocktail party before the Festival Opening Concert at the Canberra Theatre Centre on Thursday 15 February 2018 and meeting the headline act backstage on the Friday night of the Festival.
A volunteer evening induction session will be held on 9 December.
Applications to be part of the Festival volunteering team are now open and available on the Volunteering ACT website until 7 January 2018. Visit their webpage for more information.
