The Raiders have narrowly gone down 19-18 to the West Tigers overnight at Campbelltown Stadium.

Things started badly for the West Tigers when James Tedesco, who recently backflipped on a deal with the Raiders, was left in agony after the first tackle of the game. Tedesco clashed knees with Terry Campese. Reports have now confirmed Tedesco has broken his patella – with his season all but over.

There was plenty of spite in the first half. West Tigers skipper Robbie Farah complained that David Shillington had eye-gouged him in a tackle (Farah later withdraw that allegation). Shillington then had some heated exchanges with Martin Taupau.

The West Tigers went into the break leading 18-12.

Jarod Crocker crossed for the Raiders in the 49th minute. His conversion then bought the Raiders back to 18 all.

The game was on tenterhooks until the 70th minute when Terry Campese missed a field goal in front. West Tigers skipper Robbie Farah then stepped up in the 72nd minute and his successful field goal helped the West Tigers hold on.
