The Canberra Museum and Gallery (CMAG) is presently staging an exhibition not to be missed.

Titled INK REMIX: Contemporary art from mainland China, Taiwan and Hong Kong, this exhibition represents a fabulous opportunity to see a great range of contemporary work by artists across several East Asian countries.

The CMAG curator, Sophie McIntyre, has delivered a beautiful mix of works including painting, photography, ink jet prints, video and animation — and more.

What makes this exhibition even more special is that the majority of artworks are from the last decade with several produced for this special Canberra exhibition.

It may be possible that frequent visitors to galleries nationally may have seen works by several of these artists. Despite this it is worth allocating the time to make a visit as the CMAG selection presents an engaging experience of artworks.

This is a beautifully curated exhibition that demonstrates just how much wonderful contemporary art is coming out of these countries.

On the day I visited, others were taking their time making their way around the gallery. It is definitely worth it. And it is free.

Full marks go to the Canberra Museum and Gallery, its partners and a special thanks to the curator for her eye in bringing this very special exhibition together.

You would have to travel a long way to see anything comparable.

INK REMIX: Contemporary art from mainland China, Taiwan and Hong Kong is at The Canberra Museum and Gallery in Civic till Sunday 18th October.

The opening times are listed on the main website and more information plus images of the works can be found on the special website.

There is a very nice booklet/catalogue with the exhibition, but at $30, I hesitated. Maybe later.
