Their new album ‘Story’s Start Or End’ is finally here and hometown heroes SAFIA are gonna tell you all about it this Saturday at UC Refectory. Catch them playing singles like ‘Starlight’ and ‘Listen To Soul, Listen To Blues’ with support from Boo Seeka and Melbourne singer-songwriter-producer Eilish Gilligan.

For something more adventurous, head to sideway on Wednesday night for the sixth iteration of Commune, an evening of abstract, experimental, electronic, or otherwise daring music from a hand-picked selection of cutting-edge artists from around the world. This week you can expect such sonic occurrences as “tape damaged sonic detritus”, “improvised percussion tonalities” and “dreamy synthetic ambience”.

Canberra’s greatest hip-hop group Weirdo Gvng are playing sideway this Friday along with Kirklandd, Jedbrii and Ill Gato. You can read up on exactly why how great they are right here.

It’s a good week to be under 18. This Saturday, locals Powder Blue are set to launch their latest single ‘Flower Town’ at The Front alongside The Narcissists, The Dirty Sunflowers and Hedy Blaazer. The Front is fast becoming a haven once again for live music in the Inner North and it’s the perfect place to catch all ages shows.

If you were to miss out on seeing Weirdo Gvng, hopefully it’s because you opted to see noise-pop supergroup Cry Club at UC Hub instead. They’re part of the stacked lineup at this year’s Girls Rock! Canberra Fundraiser, also featuring The Buoys, Lady Denman, Lucy Sugerman and Peach Lane. This one is also all ages.
