The Basement continues to show their love for Canberra’s underdog music scene this week with a series of seated shows at the iconic Belconnen venue. BANDEMIX will see four of the city’s rock heavyweights in Signs & Symbols, The Narcissists, The Dirty Sunflowers and Northbourne Flats taking to the stage on Thursday. Come Saturday, get ready for the Metal Forever mini-festival featuring Mattersphere, Sabire and Temtris.

Catch two of Canberra’s foremost jazz musicians in bassist Brendan Keller-Tuberg and guitarist Victor Rufus co-leading their quartet in the intimate surrounds of Smith’s Alternative on Saturday night. Sitting back in an armchair and listening to homegrown jazz at Smith’s with a red wine in hand is about as idyllic a Canberra evening as you could hope for. Best to reserve your seat ahead of time in the venue’s limited-capacity configuration.

Zimbabwean-born Melbourne-based singer-songwriter Thando is headed to Tuggeranong Arts Centre this week as part of the Live and Little Concert Series. This is a rare and welcome chance to see the commanding performer in such an intimate setting. Group bookings are recommended to assist with social distancing.

Even though 2020 has looked like no other when it comes to live music, the National Live Music Awards continue unabated and this year’s nominations have just dropped. Aya Yves, Citizen Kay, Hope Wilkins, Kirklandd and Witchskull are all nominated for the ACT Live Act of the Year. You can cast your vote now to help your favourite take home the cubic glass trophy.
