fleur de lis

Moose has sent in this work by local Rovers to celebrate the 30th birthday of Scouts ACT at Regatta Point.

Apparently more are on the way.

So here’s the media statement:

ACT Scouts Turns 30

What’s that white Fleur-de-lis on Regatta Point this morning?

1st of April heralds ACT Branch Scouts turning the big 30 and with it, massive amounts of celebration.

Each Scouting section has celebrated in their own way with movie nights, hikes and BBQ’s held throughout the week. ACT Rovers have composed a commemorative Fleur-de-lis, one of the main elements in most Scouting organisations.

Each petal represents the Scout Promise (Duty to God and Country, Duty to Self and Duty to Others). The stars represent truth and knowledge and ties together the outdoors and wilderness.

The Fleur-de-lis Emblem will be on display this Friday only. Come down, have a look, there might even be some amazing cake from Tank’s Bakery in Yass left!

Hurray Scouts!! And Tank’s Bakery in Yass for the best cake ever. Yummo!!

??? the Scouts were around in the late 70’s when I was in the cubs. Oh and spare a thought for the Kaleen Scouts who, since some scum tried to burn their building down, have nowhere to celebrate.

I presume that this is the ACT Branch turning 30- as there are Scout groups in the ACT older than 30- Turner started in 1925 and 13th Canberra in O’Connor in 1959.

Congratulations to Scouts ACT members and former members… Happy 30th of Incorporation in the ACT!
