This morning we noted the Navy was farewelling its Sea King Helicopters and 817 Squadron with a fly over Canberra the lake.
Here’s my favourite of the ones we took. But we’ve got a pretty good slideshow of the show.
I note that naval aviators are much more punctual than their air force colleagues, the display starting slightly early.
If you’ve got pix from the flight then send them in to images@the-riotact.com .
And here’s a video of proceedings:

As an ex digger and RAAFie I shall simply remain silent…
Farewell to the Sea King. As a former member of HS817 Squadron I can say the Navy has traditions, the Army has customs, and the Air Force has habits.
And bye bye to HS817 tomorrow

As an ex-digger, the only thing I can say about *that* comment is…is…no..never mind….it’d never get past the moderators. 🙂
the carillion/sea king photo is really nice. can i get a hires version for my desktop?
at 1.50 in the video is the perfect symbol of Canberra, nothing beats the symbolism of the a view down Anzac Parade to the War Memorial which is framed by Mt Ainsle.
As an ex Raafie, I can vouch for the Navy always coming too soon…
