Should Dugan have been paid not to tweet?

Social media isn’t the problem – stupidity is. Don’t reward them for not going on social media, because that’s a great way to connect with fans.

Their contracts (as evidenced by Carney and Dugan) are already dependent on avoiding grandiose displays of stupidity. So why pay them for what they’re already being paid for?

Stupid idea by someone that I’m willing to guess knows little about sport.

Unfortunately genetics won’t allow it.

They should definately get a bonus for showing the modicum of common sense and basic manners that most of us expect would be displayed by small children and family pets let alone adults. Kudos to them for following basic social standards!

They don’t even need to steer clear of social media, but instead just keep to posting photos of last night’s dinner, funny cats and pithy little life slogans like the rest of us do.

I kinda thought they were already being paid a premium for their time – not just to play, but to be ambassadors for their clubs and the sport. Don’t their contracts already contain clauses which allow them to be penalised for being caught naughty?

He’s already (was) getting paid a shedload of money, just tell him that as a condition of getting that paycheque he has to forego social media. If he doesn’t like that he can get a real job flipping burgers at Maccas or stacking shelves at Woollies, they won’t care if he uses social media.

Perhaps we could also pay them a bonus for not pissing on people’s legs in pubs or simulating sex with dogs?

Bingo! Why should they be paid for something that should be common sense? Sure, their club can school them in ways to be social-media savvy if they like, but I don’t think their pocket money should be increased for managing to be sensible in what they post online.
