Shower waterproofing regulations?

By waggamick - 29 February 2012 3

I’ve searched the ACT Government site and have had no luck in finding the regulations covering the waterproofing of shower areas in residences.

Can anyone tell me what the building regulations are and when they came into play re having a waterproof barrier behind the tiling of a shower area in Canberra residences?

How long does a building warranty apply to these areas?

Thanks

Mick

Oh yes, building warranty, no doubt you thought as many of us have done that it sounded very reassuring 🙁

Fourth returned item.

It’s a guide for owner-builders. I’d suggest looking in:
Building Act 2004 (ACT)
Building (General) Regulation 2008 (ACT)
AS 3740 Waterproofing of wet areas within residential buildings 2004

Or, give ACTPLA a call: (02) 6207 1923

I hope that was a better use of your time that it was of mine 😉

If there is nothing specific to ACT the I believe the Building Code of Australia applies
AS 3740 Waterproofing of wet areas within residential buildings-2004.
