Snow on the Mountains

johnboy 26 March 2007 20

Miranda has sent in evidence that should bring some joy to the ski fiends out there.

Yes indeedy that’s a light dusting of snow! As in stuff that falls from the sky not out of the barrel of a snow maker.

Make it a highland one – warmer!

Then a cow I shall wear!

Hasdrubahl Hasdrubahl 8:21 pm 27 Mar 07

A jersey, Jey.

As in the cow.

Sounds like there could be an inaugural RiotACT Kosciuszko bushwalk brewing?

Jey Jey 7:45 pm 27 Mar 07

Thanks Miranda. I think I shall have to bring my winter pjs too.

What do non-blokes wear to keep warm, then Hasdrubahl?

Hasdrubahl Hasdrubahl 4:25 pm 27 Mar 07

Hmmm, Jey, only people I know who wear jumpers are: Blokes!

It was two degrees at 9am at CP when we left, and 5 degrees when we got back in the arvo. The ranger reckoned it was -9 wind-chill factor on the Main Range ridge… I think she might have been exaggerating by about 5 degrees…….

Rug up! Specially if it’s windy!

Jey Jey 2:49 pm 27 Mar 07

So, should I like bring a jumper when I come down next week?

“That said, early snowfalls are not a good portent! We got them last year, too.”
Too true! Last year I walked from CP over to Blue Lake in knee-deep snow in April. People were skiing down the side of Kosi. Then nothing.

Yep – the view of the Main Range from Charlotte Pass. I did the 21km CP-Koz-Blue Lake-CP walk on the weekend. Extremely cold, extremely windy and marvellously exhilarating!

Damn, I only just stopped using the air conditioner. Lousy un-insulated house. :/

It would be a first to have 2 dreadful seasons on the trot, so this year should be good. Also if there’s more rain happening, ditto. That said, early snowfalls are not a good portent! We got them last year, too.

Yank seasons just about everywhere have been very ordinary. We got spring as soon as winter gave up, mid Feb. But it’s about to snow here so hopefully it’ll hang on a bit longer.

Al Al 3:47 pm 26 Mar 07

Yay! Al wants snow…
Missed out big time last year.

Sammy Sammy 3:41 pm 26 Mar 07

Looks like the main range, with Kozzy being possibly the second peak from the right side. Photo taken from Charlotte Pass area, maybe?

Kramer Kramer 3:38 pm 26 Mar 07

Great pic! Where was this taken? …and if you know what mountains are we looking at?

caf caf 3:16 pm 26 Mar 07

hooray! Great picture too, Miranda.

terubo terubo 3:15 pm 26 Mar 07

Aaargh! Already!

Sammy Sammy 3:11 pm 26 Mar 07

Everyone should pray for good snow this year.

The mountain economy will thank you, and the dams will thank you for the spring snow melt.

sheer sheer 3:07 pm 26 Mar 07

Hurrah! *sheer immediately dons hat and jacket and starts inanely humming ‘I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas’*
