From a buzzy city restaurant to an indulgent herbivore four-course menu and an adults-only celebration including a generous drinks package, Region Media has rounded up three tempting options for a luscious lunch to enjoy on Mother’s Day on Sunday, 9 May.
Temporada
Temporada owner Dave Young, who has cooked with celebrity chef Neil Perry and Aubergine’s Ben Willis, is throwing open the doors of his buzzy city restaurant to celebrate Mother’s Day in style.
Urban, sleek and sophisticated, Temporada is making up for last year (under lockdown) when they were dropping meals via takeaway with a special share-style banquet for the family with some of their classic dishes, plus a couple of newbies.
The set menu is $80 per adult and starters will include homemade sourdough with cultured butter and plump Sydney rock oysters served with a black bean vinaigrette. Then settle in for mains of a roast lamb shoulder served with Italian coleslaw and indulgent mac and cheese. The meal will be finished with a strawberry cheesecake.
Smaller appetites will be catered for with a kid’s menu for children under 12 for $30 each. Little ones will start with bread and a delectable croquette before choosing a main of either spaghetti with meatballs, a burger or homemade nuggets with chips, and there will be ice cream for dessert.
“I think if you’re looking for somewhere to go for lunch where you can skip the stress of preparing everything, we’re your place. I want it to be share-style food that’s simple, delicious and has great produce – the way it should be,” Dave said about his plans for the day.
Temporada is at 15 Moore Street, Canberra City. Bookings are essential.
Natural Nine
Located inside Casino Canberra, the colourful, stylish interior of Natural Nine will be the indulgent backdrop to an adult-only lunch.
Natural Nine’s signature Chinese cuisine with a modern Australian twist will be on full display. Using traditional and unique Chinese ingredients and techniques, the chefs then shape them into new and exciting dishes. On Mother’s Day, the specially designed menu will feature a blend of restaurant favourites and special dishes including satay clams, Sichuan grilled salmon, black pepper lamb chops, and the incredible Nutella Hong Kong doughnuts.
For $115 per person, enjoy a generous 2-hour drinks package including tap beer, wine, spirits, or soft drinks to accompany the grand 9-dish banquet.
Natural Nine is in Casino Canberra, 21 Binara St, Canberra. Bookings are essential.
Monster Kitchen and Bar
In October last year, the iconic NewActon restaurant Monster Kitchen and Bar pledged to offer a plant-based menu, ditching meat and fish after owner Ovolo Group committed to 365 days of vegetarian dining across all its hotel restaurants and bars in Australia and Hong Kong.
Local, sustainable, and seasonal is the ethos behind Monster’s vegetarian offerings. For Mother’s Day this year, the Monster team has roamed and explored to create a progressive 4-course vegetarian-style feasting lunch menu for mum celebrating ethical eating and conscious cuisine.
The set menu is $85 per person and includes Billecart Salmon Champagne on arrival and a floral gift for mum by local flower studio Wiluna. Upgrade the experience for $45 per person for bottomless bubbly glasses of Billecart. Or up the ante and treat mum to a staycation onsite at Ovolo Nishi, including all the Ovolo Perks of a social happy hour, free loot bar, all-day snacks and breakfast.
Monster Kitchen & Bar is in Ovolo Nishi at 25 Edinburgh Ave, NewActon. Book online for Mother’s Day lunch via the link.
