The Government Speak strikes again.

Proposal: MULTI DWELLING-1 NEW DWELLING-ADDITION-DEMOLITION- Construction of a new single dwelling with attached carport; addition of one single carport to existing residence; demolition of existing carport.

I have absolutely (original meaning of the word, not “s*** yeah”) no interest in the application. But I am curious to know if this is bureaucrat speak for dual occupancy, or is it knock down rebuild (aka Red Hill Renovation, at least in my household)?

I followed a link on the Myer closure thread to see what’s planned for that part of the Hyperdome and while there I took a look around to see what else is going on developmentapplication-wise. You can see they are following some sort of format but it does make some of them hard going to read! Maybe an extra line is needed, something like “Summary of Application in Plain English”.

This is pretty standard planning-talk and its a legal requirement. The title description is meant to list all activities requiring consent, hence the reason it mentions demolition.

They are keeping the existing dwelling, replacing the carport on that dwelling, and then also building a new dwelling with a carport.
