The momentum created by the Matildas’ success in the World Cup has significantly increased interest in the domestic A-League Women’s competition.
The impact is being felt across the board, with Canberra in the midst of unprecedented interest with a record number of memberships already sold.

Canberra United remains the only standalone team in the A-League Women’s competition with no matching men’s side at this stage.

Coach Njegosh Popovich has a new-look team to mould together before the opening game against Adelaide on 15 October.
With the likes of Grace Maher and Laura Hughes heading to rival teams, Popovich has been active in the player marketplace.
Former Chilean international Maria Rojas returns, while New Zealand under-20 international Ruby Nathan and Young Matilda Tegan Bertolissio will make their debuts for Canberra.
Canberra legend Michelle Heyman returns for her 12th season with United.
Canberra United will play the Western Sydney Wanderers in a pre-season game in Forbes in the Challenge Cup on 23 September.
