Kilroy band

Don’t miss the talented duo Kilroy, performing twice this week; on Saturday with Faux Faux Amis, and on Monday as part of Birthday Bootlegs featuring Moaning Lisa. Photo supplied by Kilroy.

The RiotACT Gig Guide this week features Kilroy, a two-piece indie rock band and self-proclaimed “pioneers of the drum machine renaissance.” They will be playing Saturday night at the Phoenix along with Hi New Low and Faux Faux Amis, the latter of which will be releasing their long-awaited debut LP. It’s going to be a stellar show!

Some other highlights this week will be ‘Red Bull Sound Select’, with one of Canberra’s finest Genesis Owusu on the bill along with Manu Crooks, Turquoise Prince and Haiku Hands. That same night, there will be an enormous amount of metal to consume at the Basement, while Transit Bar has a huge bill itself with Don Fernando coming to Canberra for the very first time, playing with Sydney psych-rockers Neptune Power Federation and (one of DJ Loz’s all-time faves) Monoceros.

Not only will Faux Faux Amis launch their LP at The Phoenix on Saturday night, but across the road at Smith’s, Magic Rob Universe will be back on stage from 8 pm. And check out the Old Canberra Inn this Sunday, as they host the Canberra Rockabilly Roundup, featuring a great swag of bands as well as retro markets galore.
