This week’s Gig Guide features a pic of Slagatha Christie, a fantastic punk trio which, aside from delivering roaring riffs and an in-your-face performance, do a killer rendition of the Spice Girls. Catch them on Thursday night as they open for The Nahs, who are touring to celebrate the release of their debut EP ‘Sensitivity’, and SCABZ.
There are some big things happening Friday, with Bob Log III back in town at the Phoenix, who will no doubt pack the place out as he always does with his outrageous show featuring inflatable boats and balloons. The Front are planning a night of folk and ska, with Wilson & The Castaways lined up to play with Fox n Firkin, Operation Ibis and more.
Saturday it’s all about the release of Happy Axe‘s out-of-nowhere LP, ‘Dream Punching’, which should be one of the strongest releases to come out of Canberra this year. Check out the launch at the Street Theatre from 8.15 pm, with TEEM and Toby Graham opening. The Cactus Channel will also be back in town to launch their new album, ‘Stay A While’; tune into LocalnLive on 2XX 98.3FM on Thursday as we have a chat to them all about it. And this Sunday the original Wailers – Bob Marley’s old crew – will be in town at the Basement playing their masterpieces, while at the Street Theatre The Voice grand finalist Lucy Sugerman will be performing with Amber Nicholls and Sophie Edwards from 6 pm.
