He has the charm of Justin Taylor from MARQ Property, the hair of Antony Damiano from LJ Hooker Canberra City and a five o’clock shadow to rival Nathan Wood from Ray White — but alas, he’s not real.
This is what Artificial Intelligence (AI) thinks a typical ‘Canberra real estate agent’ looks like: perfect teeth, immaculate suit and, of course, devastatingly handsome looks. He’s about 31 and seems to be showing off a listing with many, many couches on its rear deck, backing onto a reserve. So Canberra.
When it comes to what a female agent looks like, it’s pretty much every agent at home.by holly merged into one face. And that includes Rick Meir.
She seems to be a little older than her male AI counterpart and is showing off a modern home with island benches galore in the kitchen. (Why is no-one building homes with five kitchen islands?)
Her uber tight skirt suggests she doesn’t list many two- or three-storey properties, and we’re not sure how easy it is to sign contracts with those man hands. Does she remind you of even a single female agent in Canberra? No? Us either.
Next, we asked artificial intelligence to generate a ‘typical Canberra house’; the results were confusing and hilarious. The first option appears to be ‘housing commission meets country charm’ with a front porch that’s held up by mini wind turbines.
In the second option, someone has gone way over the top with a massive Colorbond roof and placed it at the front of the house. The blue door is … interesting … and the front path could do with a hose down. The red bricks are totally on point though.
All jokes aside, AI will play a huge role in the future of real estate marketing according to owner of Canberra-based digital agency FIBER, Kevin Bhadra.
Kevin manages digital marketing for VERV Property, LJ Hooker Queanbeyan and McIntyre Property, and says AI will be integrated into most property marketing activities within the next five years – from strategy, copywriting and design, through to administration processes.
“Agents across the world are already using ChatGPT to write listing copy, and tools like Jasper and Canva to write and design ads and brochures in an instant,” Kevin says.
“Soon, AI will help agents understand those most likely to buy a property from a database, and develop key messages targeted directly to those people.
“It’s a huge opportunity and agencies should be doing everything they can to embrace the new technology.”
