Trailer dumping, you're doing it wrong

trailer

Spotted on the bike path adjacent to William Slim Drive Belconnen this morning – full trailer dumped – rego plate missing, tyres in great condition (3 of them).

Anyone lost a trailer (or a car and trailer combo, car still missing)?

and today (Friday) I noted that the balance of nature has been restored and all green waste has been removed! TAMS I assume. As you were then.

and this morning (Sunday), the trailer is gone! Spare wheel still there though, rim badly bent and not worth saving it seems. Green waste however is still there.

If it’s not yours, it’s theft. Someone would probably need to make a complaint though.

an update – riding past this morning, another pile of trailer shaped green waste has been added in the left foreground of this picture – an urban artwork installation in progress?

More importantly, would you need to pay stamp duty?

If I took it would I be charged with theft?

The towbar man wanted $500 to fit a towbar to my $1000 Barina, nearly spewed as the last time I got a towbar, it cost $30, but that was a long time ago 🙂

So I left an unregistered trailer (with plates removed) at the end of the street for 3 months but sadly no one pinched it, and no one complained to the abandoned vehicle inspectors.

I eventually moved it to the back yard where it is now a composting facility. Good solution to the problem as it gave me a nice warm green feeling.

Hope the executors of my estate have a decent angle grinder.

Mmmm…. rusty compost….

In my experience it’s the wiring that costs. The towbar often just bolts on.

You could fit a towbar and omit the wiring, and rely on people seeing the rear lights and indicators of the car. Not legal, but if you only use the trailer occasionally you’d probably get away with it. Not many people in Canberra use their indicators, so people won’t notice the difference. Make sure you drive at 80 in the right hand lane when you have the trailer on…

Careful what you say there, poetix! The hippys of ACTPLA say that if there is a possum living in a possum box in a tree (even if the owner of the tree put the possum box up there), it’s a protected tree, and can’t be cut down. Using that “ACTPLA logic”, that is now a protected trailer park possum.

I didn’t know that! If the tree falls down will I be in trouble for not catching it?

No no no…It’s a mobile home for a possum.

Don’t mess with the trailer park possums, people.

furry trash…

Yes there’s also been a loaded box trailer on the side of Ginnanderra Dr for a week or so. One of the tyres is completely shredded. It’s interesting that the trailer is pointing against the traffic direction.

It’s ’cause you can’t give them away…
