UC continues to thrive with the return of Stonefest!

| CBR DIG

After almost a decade on hiatus, STONEFEST IS BACK!

For the scoop, we caught up with UC Live Programmer Kelsey Bagust on the return of the legendary Festival which will be hosted at the University of Canberra this October. (Ticket information below.)

What was the inspiration to bring back Stonefest?

K: In light of the resurgence in live music at UC over the last 18 months, it seemed like the right time to bring it back.

Stonefest was held at UC for almost 40 years in various incarnations, from week-long events, to 2 day raves and everything in between. Stonefest 2019 is about making a music festival which really speaks to where the Canberra music scene is at right now, and helping UC (and Canberra) to find our place in the national music industry landscape.

How important is it to UC to include the local music scene?

K: Massively so; we exist within and as part of our Canberra community and it’s super important to us to champion our local industry.

One of the most exciting things about this year’s line-up is how diverse it is. We’re thrilled to present a line-up where more than 60% of the acts feature non-male members, as it’s really important for us to champion inclusion and representation.
