2-5 October 2009
St Johns Church Hall, Constitution Ave, Reid, Canberra ACT
Nothing says Victorian Dance like the charm and spectacle of a Victorian Era Dance Festival – dozens of dancers in elaborate costumes swirling gracefully to the music of another era. You can be part of it! Learn the dances, join a costuming workshop, enter the costumed croquet tournament, dance at the ball, learn how to do a victorian hair style, laugh at Improv Theatre doing Dickens or just enjoy a close-up look at some very rare vintage costumes never before seen in Canberra. See http://www.earthlydelights.com.au for more information and to register.
An all-inclusive Victorian Era Dance Weekend package (Workshops, Balls, Tea Dance and Refreshments) for the long weekend is $190 (just $150 for our RiotACT friends for the month of August – by booking at http://dancing.eventbrite.com/?discount=VIC2009). Victorian costume is admired but not required. Separate admission is also available, as well as entry to a special one-off exhibition of antique ballgowns and clothes from 1830 – 1910.
Hosted by the Earthly Delights Historic Dance Academy. Organised by John & Aylwen Gardiner-Garden, Canberra.
