Want to pay Wil Anderson to sort out his routine?

The Canberra Review has the happy news that not only will Wil Anderson be playing Canberra from 22 February 22 to 4 March, but it won’t even be his full show.

Wil Anderson will be performing in the intimate surroundings of the Courtyard Studio at the Canberra Theatre Centre.

In what his promoter describes as “Wil unplugged”, the comedian will workshop material that will become (or not become) part of his final show, “Wil of God”, which will be showcased at the annual Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

It’ll cost you $26 for the privilege of helping Wil write the real show he’s going to take to Melbourne.

I guess even Wil has to eat.

Pedant.

Nobody else comes here

You mean, apart from Ross Noble, Dylan Moran, and “Weird Al” Yankovic (all playing in Canberra in the next two months or so)?

Nobody else comes here, we should be encouraging him to come back.

That said, we means you (Canberra Populace) and not me. I think he’s an ass and not worthy of 26 beer credits, as it is better spent on beer IMHO.

Mrs Maelinar is credited with my opinion in the first sentence.

Who needs comedy nights on Wednesdays when we have it every day from the local pollies?

perhaps he could pay me $26 to critique he show.

I’ve watched cancers that are funnier then that cockarse.

Black books was funny but watching Dylan Moran’s Monster on TV a week or so ago was a bit of a waste of time. Moran has a really funny manner, like a scattered Irish drunk rambling on, but his jokes themselves aren’t that great (or original – I recognised a few from Seinfeld’s standup and a few more from older, classic comedians).

Wil Anderson doesn’t even have a funny delivery. I think the reason people like him is that he’s always got a big smile and is full of energy. It appears that he’s having a good time, so people have a good time and laugh when he laughs at stuff.

However, the state of comedy in Australia and live gigs in Canberra is so deplorable that any second-rate comedian performing in this town is better than the usual trickle of local acts.

Does Insomnia still have comedy nights on Wednesdays? They used to be worth going to. Does Insomnia still exist or is it Meche now?

I saw him do this last year and really enjoyed it – there was a bit more to it than that and it was very funny. And $26 isn’t that much – it costs $48 to go see Dylan Moran when he’s here in April.

i think his ego gets in the way of him being funny.

Saw him do this last year… don’t waste your money. I will condense the entire set for you:
“Hi I’m Wil Anderson. Shannon Noll, I don’t like John Howard, *John Howard voice* I’m a short bald idiot, Shannon Noll, Shane Warne is fat and likes women, WARRRNEY, BOOOOONY, bucket bongs, bogans, Shannon Noll. Thanks you’ve been great.”

Heard about this ages ago in his blog. Bought my tickets the next day. It should be good. He has a show, but he does need to test some of his jokes, we are luck enough to have him come here. Most comedians just do it at the small comedy stores in Sydney and Melbourne. I personally cannot wait.

Shannon Noll should have decked this piece of shit a few months ago.

He can be funny when he doesn’t try to act like a smart ass and laugh at his own jokes

I quite like Wil myself.

But $26 for a workshop, I’ll leave that to the ageing ABC junkies trying to be young and cool.

jimeoin is a craic!

The way I see him – and this is judged wholly on his “Sunday Roast” column in the Tele – is a whiney little bitch – stuck ina grown mans body.

Jimeoin is funny.

Wil Anderson is just a tool – paraphrase that CT

“every joke and part of the show flows from the premise statement: “If the world does truly have intelligent design, why is the world so f*cked?”

Got it in one.

he isnt evan ‘funny’ unless a soliloquy of whinges is amusing.

So essentially we are guinea pigs – cashed up guinea pigs….. apparently.
