Newly released CCTV footage shows the moment a person lit themselves on fire during an alleged arson attack in Gungahlin.
At about 11:40 pm on 6 July, two people arrived at the Gold Blade barber shop on Hibberson Street in Gungahlin.
“One of these people proceeds to smash the glass front door to the premises with a hammer before the other enters through the shattered glass with a red jerry can, which is then used to douse the premises with accelerant,” according to ACT Policing.
“This person then ignites the accelerant, setting themselves alight in the process, before being extinguished with the assistance of the other person.”
ACT Policing has released CCTV footage showing the alleged attack.
After the alleged arson, the two people left the barber shop, heading in the direction of Hinder Street.
Police would like to speak to anyone who can identify the offenders from the CCTV footage or who may have information about the incident.
The release of the CCTV footage follows a call in early July for anyone with information to come forward.
